The Base 11 Student Ambassador Program is looking for motivated students with a passion for STEM to represent Base 11 and its ideals on their campuses. Ambassadors get the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their communities by sharing and promoting Base 11’s programs and resources designed to empower women and minority students in STEM, all while becoming an agent of change and developing their own leadership skills.

Student Ambassador Commitments

Set up a Student Ambassador account on Base 11 Digital

Commit to working a full quarter/semester

Lead by example by taking advantage of Base 11’s programs & opportunities, of which Student Ambassadors get priority in many! 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help drive on-campus registration for Base 11 events, including the Base 11 Symposium taking place at Long Island University on November 3rd, 2023 
  • Work alongside the faculty/organization member who serves as the institution’s Base 11 Accelerator Partner Liaison(s) in the promotion and integration of Base 11 programs using the Accelerator Engagement Checklist as a guide
  • Engage with on-campus STEM clubs and introduce fellow students, alumni, and aligning networks to Base 11 programs and opportunities
  • Represent Base 11 at on-campus or organizational events with promotional materials Base 11 will provide
  • Participate in Base 11’s monthly Accelerator Partner Engagement meetings, which typically take place on the first Friday of every month
  • Liaise with faculty to help coordinate virtual/in-person info sessions administered by a Base 11 team member 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an academic institution
  • Min. 2.5 GPA
  • Demonstrated interest in STEM (STEM majors preferred)
  • Attend an Ambassador Orientation

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated interest in STEM
  • Passion for increasing diversity in STEM
  • Outgoing personality and a desire to be an active leader
  • Enthusiasm to positively represent Base 11 and its ideals
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills in one-on-one and group settings
